MIMS Dermatology was launched in 2005 in response to the government’s White paper that encouraged GPs to specialise and to provide services such as dermatology and minor surgery in primary care.
The journal provides practical medical education to GPs and GPs with a special interest in dermatology and has a strong editorial advisory board. It features original and review articles on dermatological conditions encountered in primary care, test yourself section, pictorial cases and medical education. Readers can also earn 5CPD credits towards revalidation and appraisal.
Skin consultations represent almost a quarter of all GP consultation. In recognition of this workload, MIMS Dermatology has launched a series of four MIMS Dermatology Guide to supplements. The topics selected are common in general practice: psoriasis, eczema, acne and skin cancers/melanoma. Each supplement will be posted with the journal in March, June, September and December
MIMS Dermatology is also linked to the Cardiff Diploma in dermatology, one of the most prestigious and popular postgraduate diplomas in the UK. The academic link provides the readers and subscribers to the journal ‘test yourself’ content and information about the courses.
