Autocar appoints Matt Burt as deputy editor
Haymarket Media Group announces today that Matt Burt has been appointed deputy editor of Autocar, one of the world’s most recognised, respected and influential motoring brands.
Burt joins Autocar from Haymarket stablemate, Motorsport News where, under his stewardship as editor since 2007, the brand has undergone significant development — culminating in a highly acclaimed redesign this year.
Burt, who is coming back to Autocar after a stint as chief sub editor in 2006 said: “I’m thrilled to be rejoining the Autocar team. The prospect of creating brilliant magazines with Jim Holder again was too good to miss — he taught me a great deal when I first started at Haymarket in 1997 and I can’t wait to get started.”
Jim Holder, Autocar editor said: “Matt will play a key role in developing our news and feature content in the magazine and directing the website content as we gear up towards a relaunch later this year. His experience, expertise and enthusiasm are going to be a massive asset to the brand.”
Alastair Lewis, Autocar publisher said: “Matt is coming back to Autocar at a great time. We have big plans for the brand and we look forward to tapping into Matt’s knowledge and experience to help us achieve them.”
Autocar has been at the cutting edge of automotive development since its first issue in 1895. The magazine recently celebrated the publication of its 5000th road test with a record breaking 400-page special issue and is now published in 18 countries throughout the world. Its successful website, autocar.co.uk, attracts 1.85 million visits a month and its digital products include numerous apps and thousands of video road tests.
