Pinterest-style display generates record buzz for Marketing’s Power 100
Marketing’s 2012 Power 100 has generated record buzz online after using a Pinterest-style presentation of the magazine’s annual list of top UK marketers.
Photosharing network Pinterest inspired Marketing’s head of features, Nicky Clark, and Brand Republic producer Ben Hall, to create an interactive board that enables readers to create and share their own list across social media platforms.
‘After seeing the huge growth of Pinterest I wondered if we could create a Pinterest-style board for our Power 100,’ Nicky said. ‘I thought a new approach where we encouraged people to share and create their own variation of our lists would drive interest in a tired format.’
The Power 100 holding page has clocked up 6,000 hits in the two days since publication. The interactive has had hundreds of tweets from companies as diverse as Unilever and the Misnomer Dance Theater in Brooklyn, New York.
‘Our Power 100 issue is highly-anticipated every year,’ said Marketing editor Noelle McElhatton. ‘But this year the reaction has been phenomenal, thanks to Nicky and Ben’s superbly creative twist on how the list is presented online.’
