‘Must-read’ medical journals win US awards
Two magazines from Haymarket’s strong US medical stable recently won
gold and silver for Healthcare Business Publication of the Year in the
MM&M Awards
in New York.
Judges said the
Clinical Advisor
won gold for producing a “must-read” issue each month that is both practical and compelling.
Runner-up, the
Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants
(JAAPA), was praised by judges for its striking redesign as well as the high quality of its editorial content.
The
MM&M Awards
were announced on November 1 at a black-tie event for 800 at the Tavern on the Green restaurant in Central Park, New York.
The organisers,
MM&M
magazine, say the awards “champion creativity and effectiveness in
healthcare communications”. Online publishing, direct marketing, PR and
interactive media are some of the disciplines the awards recognise.
Launched in 2004, the awards this year accepted 750 entries in 24
categories. A panel of 47 judges included key figures in the US
healthcare marketing industry.
JAAPA
is published by Haymarket for the American Academy of Physician
Assistants, which represents US healthcare professionals licensed to
work with patients under a doctor’s supervision.
The Clinical Advisor
also reaches physician assistants, as well as nurse
practitioners, with a circulation of 120,000 US-wide. Case histories
dominate the magazine, which counts legal experts in medical
malpractice among its health-professional contributers.
Finalists for Healthcare Business Publication of the Year also included
Diversion, Hearst’s travel and leisure magazine for doctors, and the pharmacists’ title
Drug Store News.
