Haymarket scoops five gongs at PPA Digital Publishing Awards

Haymarket scooped a whopping five prizes in this year’s UK Periodical Publishers Association (PPA) Digital Publishing Awards.

Haymarket consumer brand What Car? was the big winner with its innovative online fuel economy tool - What Car? True MPG - bagging two gongs: Product Development of the Year award as well as Digital Data Service of the Year award, where it was going head to head with What Car?’s other shortlisted offering - What Car? Valuations.

FourFourTwo's Stats Zone app, which allows users to analyse every Premier League & Champions League game in amazing detail, took the trophy in the App of the Year category.

The judges said that this is a fantastically well-executed app that creates a real digital buzz. They added: 'It’s a fantastic brand extension and a great use of data combining a strong social element with unique cross-platform sponsorship opportunities.'

Special mention must also go to Haymarket Network's digital team who designed and built the What Car? True MPG site and designed the FourFourTwo Stats Zone app.

Haymarket Business Media brands also made a strong showing at last night's ceremony. Medical brand MIMS took home the Directory of the Year award for its recently-launched mobile app, which put prescribing reference for healthcare professionals on to the iPhone. The judges said they were particularly impressed by the instant accessibility of the app, with no Internet connection required.

Brand Republic’s commercial team won the Advertising Sales Team of the Year award in the B2B category. The judges said: ‘In a fiercely competitive marketplace, the Brand Republic Group Sales Team has achieved fantastic success year-on-year, with a significant increase for both consumer and ad revenues. The judges were hugely impressed by the iconic new advertisers the team had recruited.'

Commenting on the wins, Haymarket’s chief executive Kevin Costello said: ‘I am absolutely delighted with these stunning results, which really reward our digital innovations of the past 12 months. I’d like to congratulate our teams for their outstanding performance.’

Overall Haymarket had been short-listed in nine of the 12 categories. The winners were announced last night at the awards ceremony and gala at The Brewery in East London.  

Celebrating excellence in the field of digital publishing, the PPA Digital Publishing Awards are some of the most coveted in the industry.
