SC Magazine announces award winners live via Twitter

SC Magazine announced the winners of yesterday’s 2009 SC Magazine Awards Europe via Twitter as comedian Fred MacAulay announced them on stage.

Editor Paul Fisher posted updates using the popular micro-blogging service during dinner and the awards ceremony, giving followers not only immediate news of the winners but also a bit of the evening’s atmosphere.

Business IT security software company Sophos was named Security Vendor of the Year. Sophos is based in Abingdon, UK, and is one of the only IT security companies to produce software exclusively for business customers.

Other winners include Kaspersky Open Space Security for Best Security Product of the Year and Stephen Bonner, head of Barclays Information Risk Management, who won Information Security Person of the Year.

Paul also gave followers some details of the evening meal but added a bit of mystery by holding back one of MacAulay’s jokes.

All winners have also announced on the SC Magazine website.
