SC Magazine turns 20

SC Magazine US is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a special issue that takes a look at how the IT security industry has evolved.

“In the last 20 years, the information security space has morphed from a little known, often undervalued and sometimes misunderstood space to a widely accepted, mainstream and required part of our daily lives, whether at work or home,” said SC Magazine editor-in-chief Illena Armstrong.

IT security has gone from a small, niche interest shared primarily by techies to become an essential core operation of any business.

SC Magazine has had to change and grow along with its sector, as the profile of the people appearing in the magazine shows.

“In the beginning, we could never get chief security officers (CSOs) to speak to us, let alone tell us how they’re tackling security challenges,” said Armstrong. “Now, we regularly feature a CSO in the magazine and get to hear about some of the innovative ways that companies deal with IT security.”

The SC Magazine portfolio has also grown and now offers a range of products including a highly successful website that provides news, video and podcasts as well as monthly online events.

The title also holds an annual conference and expo, the SC World Congress, which this year gathered together more than 1000 IT security professionals and CSOs from a range of companies.
