It’s impossible not to be impressed by the quality of the work done by the voluntary sector.

It acts as the conscience of society, drawing attention to injustice and demanding progress. It lobbies politicians, runs vivid and moving campaigns and acts as a reservoir of expertise. And it often does all this on a shoestring.

The Third Sector Excellence Awards are intended to recognise and celebrate that vital work. There are 24 categories covering everything from direct mail to employee innovation.

This awards night is one of the high points of the voluntary sector calendar.
