On May 12 and 13, McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Home Care held their fourth annual Women of Distinction awards program in Chicago. After two years of holding virtual events, the live ceremony was a huge success, with more than 300 guests in attendance to celebrate women making a mark in skilled nursing, senior living and home care.
Awards were presented at a dinner on May 12 in three categories: Hall of Honor for senior-level executives, Veteran VIP for long-time or mid-level executives, and Rising Stars for people younger than 40 or with fewer than 15 years in the industry. Additionally, a new category this year, the McKnight’s Spirit Awards, honored acts of bravery, courage and determination. All award winners amped up the energy in the room, with many receiving standing ovations from parts of the crowd when announced. A popular feature of the ceremony was the walk-up music that honorees chose for their time in the spotlight.
The McKnight’s Women of Distinction Forum followed on May 13, with three continuing education-eligible sessions featuring panels with industry leaders discussing the biggest challenges facing senior living communities, skilled nursing facilities and home care providers as well as providing skill development and career advancement advice. Those panels were moderated by Jim Berklan, Lois Bowers and Liza Berger, the chief editors at McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, McKnight’s Senior Living and McKnight’s Home Care, respectively.
“We were thrilled to be able to celebrate in person after two years of having virtual awards ceremonies and webinars, and our honorees were just as excited,” said Lois Bowers. “It was an energizing event of fellowship and knowledge-sharing, and we’re already looking forward to next year.”
Stay tuned for the 2023 Women of Distinction awards program to kick off later this year!
