Haymarket wins Sustainability Initiative of the Year at the 2020 PPA Awards

On Tuesday 30 June, Haymarket collected the inaugural Sustainability Initiative of the Year award at the 2020 Professional Publishing Association (PPA) Awards.

Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the ceremony was held virtually, which saw over 1000 people from over 250 companies live-stream the ceremony – a record-breaking number for the award show’s 40th anniversary.

The judges said they “unanimously agreed that Haymarket Sustain is an excellent example to all when it comes to implementing sustainability initiatives. It’s clear that their approach to change and desire to improve their environmental impact is sincere. Judges were impressed by how many areas of the business were considered and how quickly and thoroughly this initiative was achieved.”

Head of procurement and member of the sustainability team, Gary Charlton, said: “We’re delighted to win the inaugural sustainability award. What is notable is the reference to how many areas of the business were included in the entry, which I think is the best possible endorsement of how all the different teams – including Facilities, HR, Procurement, Production and Technology –  contribute to the breadth of Haymarket’s sustainability credentials, which are far more than simply environmental.”
