Oncology Nurse Advisor Celebrates 10 Years

New York, NY – May 27, 2020 – Oncology Nurse Advisor (ONA), a part of business media company Haymarket Media, Inc., is proud to celebrate their 10th anniversary this month. This milestone marks a decade of editorial excellence in the field of oncology nursing research and cancer care.

Throughout the last decade ONA has evolved with the changes in nursing, starting as a print publication and transitioning over time to a digital-first publishing model. In 2015, the team also launched an educational event, the ONA Navigation Summit: a live, CNE meeting tailored to the unique challenges of navigating patients with cancer from diagnosis through survival.

“This past decade has brought forth a growing and long-overdue recognition of the positive impact that oncology nurses have on patients with cancer, from diagnosis to survivorship, and it has been tremendously rewarding to witness the evolution of this vital role in healthcare,” said Kathleen Walsh Tulley, Vice President of Content at Haymarket Media. “These medical professionals have been and continue to be instrumental in the positive outcomes experienced by cancer patients, and we are honored to be a source of ongoing information and instruction for them.”

The ONA editorial team will feature several articles this month focused on the journey of the brand and the industry including an editorial by Joyce Pagan, long time ONA editor, in which she reflects on the first-ever issue of ONA, published in May 2010, and highlights an Issues in Cancer Survivorship column that explained how a cancer center in Seattle, Washington, managed the H1N1 influenza outbreak — an eerily similar situation to the beginnings of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am proud of the contribution that ONA has made to advance the care of patients with cancer over the past decade. From the very first issue, the talented editorial team at Haymarket has provided informative and high-quality clinical information to this important audience,” said Michael Graziani, President of the Medical Communications Division at Haymarket Media. “It is their respect for oncology nurses and nurse navigators that has built ONA into one of the most trusted information resources in the specialty.”

Other commemorative articles will be published throughout the month along with a series highlighting articles published over the years on ONA that have stood the test of time. In addition, throughout the remainder of 2020, ONA will continue to publish articles that both reflect on the past 10 years and build toward the future.
